How meditation can change your life

Stress and weariness are two of the most prevalent concerns that many people face in today’s fast-paced world.

Meditating just a few minutes each day has been shown to have a relaxing and balancing influence on your life. Meditation will assist you in changing your outlook on life and will provide you peace of mind and happiness. It assists you in gaining a deeper understanding of yourself and others.

It’s been shown to boost energy, strength, and reduce oxygen consumption. It boosts blood flow and reduces your heart rate because you’re in a peaceful state of mind.

Meditation has been around for centuries, many Buddhists practice this technique as a way of calming the mind, practising mindfulness and gratitude. As we start getting on and many things start to build up in our lives this can sometimes be straining on the brain dealing with everyday problems in life, from trying to finish tasks to dealing with personal problems everyone has stress in some form.

Dealing with stress can be difficult at times as well as managing your mood when you are down and trying to find the motivation to do anything is sometimes impossible, however taking the time to relax and have some time away from the chaos of everyday struggles is so beneficial.

Whether it’s finding the time in work, education, at home or outside spending a few minutes a day can seriously help change your mindset.

When I look back at my journey of being stressed all the time not knowing how to deal with stress or even simple things would pile on me causing me to become extremely overwhelmed, not sleep great and in general just try sail through the day not knowing why I was stressed.

Alot of the time having trouble with insomnia, depression and anxiety as a result of autistic meltdowns, I always found it difficult to relax. Going through a lot of different problems early in life I ended up finding meditation classes at a local community centre and starting out with youtube videos on guided meditation I actually saw how it completely relaxed my mind.

I was able to relax and not let anything interrupt my sense of calmness, working on my breathing and closing my eyes to really let my mind rest.

It completely changed my life from that moment, just taking the time out my day to focus on the moment here in now without thoughts racing about picturing a safe place I could really focus and maintain relaxation.

Since then, I’ve got into spirituality using grounding techniques which helped me massively with my anxiety just completely being in the moment and working on myself.

I love listening to the rain, so I always used that as my starting point getting into meditation, I would put on a YouTube video of rain just to purely focus on my breathing and mind, it reminded me of camping out and the raindrops hitting the tent being out amongst nature, that in itself was calming.

Even walking around once I learned the basics of meditation and mindfulness, I would do it automatically on walks whilst still being in the present, breathing and the fresh air greeting my lungs.

Meditation is so important in today’s society, I think most people would really benefit just taking the time to practice some meditation and relaxation by watching a few youtube videos or listening to a podcast, even 10 minutes a day you will see the difference.
